Le Creuset Ecommerce for Japan

Our work for Le Creuset Ecommerce platform was built on a Legacy OS Commerce system. We chose this platform due to it’s interoperability, PHP code base and ease of design template changes. Furter the system had been around for ten years already, had a large community following and was well support, while being used across the web for many initial platforms. Due to this we believe the stability of the system was set from the first release. This was proven with the online store sales paying for the entire project within the first two months.

For the initial phase we built the platform in 6 weeks with a Card Merchant gateway integration. Our competitors IBM and Fusion Systems told the CEO it would take 1 year. And hence the U.S.A site which came years later did take over 1 year and millions of dollars. For our build we needed to be on time for Christmas sales and it was still Summer. Yet JTS went the extra mile and worked full time without break to meet the deadlines.

Process & Results

The website ran for 5 years before upgrading to Magento which was just released. During the course of the project OS Commerce was integrated into Microsoft Dynamics/Navision via simple CSV exchange. Stock reports were created nightly that included Low/Med/LOut of stock levels. Gift Creation and coupon exchanges were added as well as Sales/Specials features and the success contiunued totoalling $1.5M USD sales in one year.

JTS further created more custom features such as Autyomated competitor price crawling to protect the brand from being discounted, monitoring and backup custom solutions and full reporting dashboards for sales and movement within the platform of customers behavior. To drive sales and increase interest over time JTS then also created a community website that users would load a recipe on and vote for their favorite recipes. The site was featured in Figaro Magazine with an extremely tight deadline and rolled out to the public successfully.  

The site then became 20% of Le Creuset sales and continues to grow to this day.

Our approach to the security of the site was without fail our most secure to date. We used a standalone server initially and after AWS released we transferred to AWS to make sure our PCDIS compliance was automatic. We hardened the server that was kept in a secure facility with password protected physical entry.
